Evanston, IL – Family Energy: Your Guide to a Fun and Fit Life With Kids, announced today that television personality and author Joan Lunden and her family appear on the cover of the December/January 2005 issue of the magazine, hitting newsstands today. Lunden is pictured on the cover with her husband, Jeff Konigsberg, and their twins, Kate and Max (16 months).
“We selected Joan Lunden and her family for the cover of Family Energy because they are truly an inspiration to parents everywhere,” says Elisa Ast All, MSJ, co-founder and editor-in-chief of Family Energy. ”Joan offers expert advice to parents about children’s health and nutrition and, in her own life, she practices what she preaches!”
Lunden is the co-author, with pediatrician Dr. Myron Winick, of Growing Up Healthy: A Complete Guide to Childhood Nutrition and Well-Being, Birth Through Adolescence. After the New Year, Lunden can be seen as the host of a new primetime reality show on CBS, which launches the search for America's next great lifestyle maker. She and Konigsberg are expecting their second set of twins through surrogate mother Deborah Bolig in March.
“What parents feed their kids during childhood has an impact on their future health and their susceptibility to diseases like obesity, type 2 diabetes and cancer,” says Lunden, also the mother of three older daughters. “I’m trying to get the word out to parents that they can live a healthy lifestyle with their kids so the entire family lives longer and stronger. Family Energy is the perfect magazine to help me do that."
Lunden says we hold our health in our hands. “I believe our lives are shaped by the choices that we make. We are in control of our future,” she says. “Parents have to get outside and run around with their kids, ride bicycles, hike with them and play sports. The ideas in Family Energy will help parents learn how to live a healthy life with their children while having fun.”
